There Was Something About Mary.

The Mary Queen of Scots Festival was our last official event of 2017, and what a way to end the season! It was an honour and a delight to be involved with this amazing event.
The beginning of September may seem early for us to end, and that’s because it is. Filming, and other commitments, have mean that we are unable to host a Halloween and Yule event this year.
This decision was not taken lightly, as we know these events are popular with our friends and visitors. Filming on large projects brings in a large amount of money for the building of Duncarron, so we simply cannot afford to say no – especially given that our project is entirely self funded. On the plus side, though, this year’s filmwork has enabled us to buy two custom-made mini longhouses – baby versions of our existing building – which will be worthy editions to Duncarron. Foundations will soon be laid for the first of these buildings, and construction of the frame is well under way. We’re hoping to have at least one of these buildings up before our event season begins again next year.

One of the filming projects we were involved in this year was season two of ‘Vikingane’ – season one is currently available on Netflix as ‘Norsemen’. The Clanranald Trust for Scotland, our parent organisation, provided fight co-ordination training, props, logistics and background supporting cast for season one. We provided the same for season two, along with location services, which included Duncarron as a location, as part of this season was filmed in Scotland. We hope that that series will be picked up by Netflix, as season one is proving to be popular, receiving great reviews in the regions where it has aired.
Keep watching our Facebook pages for details of current/future filming projects.

Thanks to all of you who attended our various events this year, and we hope to see you again next year. We already have some exciting gigs planned, so keep watching our Facebook pages for updates. Details of next season’s events will be posted at the end of this year/beginning of next year as we finalise our calendar.
